There are so many problems that our new technological capabilites can solve. How can we make sure that these resources are being invested in places where they improve society, and where thay hurt people?http://for.tn/2eGqVx4

Will it? Or do NYT writers again just think about people like themselves, rather than the low-opportunity "rednecks" they seem to despise anyway?

Given the people that would teach the robot, no thanks. The last time we deformed education we let it teach right-wing ideolgy.

I find it’s still underrated how technology has played a part in alleviating violence. Who knows how many crimes are deterred by knowledge of ever-present high-res cameras.
-
According to research on CCTVs in London it is probably none. Violence is rarely the product of rational planning.
-
I was mainly referring to everyone having cameras/communicators (smartphones) in their pockets, which surely didn’t happen due to rational planning.

Would be really interesting to enable refugees and others to participate in education via telepresence robots.

The problem isn't that new technology can't be helpful but that given the economic model for dispersion that it usually helps early adopters first. Early adopters of course being people fiscally capable of taking the risk of early adoption.

the question is not what is technically possible, the question is who would make those miracles happen, and why. Tech evangelists tend to believe in automatic progress, or to confound what is possible with what is probable.
-
A subset of those who see it as possible will it as feasable, a subset of those might be willing and able. It’s a matter of numbers. Let’s at least be of those who see it possible.

I always dreamed of being saved by illuminated digeratti but Trump 's victory is an evidence of my innocence.
