now required reading in DeVos schools?

I don’t think reading (anything) is required in a DeVos school.

I had to go outside and check the century! It's the 21st, right? Are we still having these arguments. These people are like mithering children.
-
Yes, given "it's the 21st century" people had better stop examining scientific theories and just blindly accept them!
-
No. By all means, feel free to examine and challenge them; but use reason, logic and verifiable facts rather than tired old dogmas and long-disproved argument chains.
-
Ah, too stupid to realize that calling others' ideas "tired" is a "tired" tactic, and that arguments (let alone "argument chains") can't be "disproved"!
-
That's nonsense. This book doesn't even attempt to disprove anything. A tired idea is one that has been thoroughly refuted many times.
-
Hello idiot! I didn't say the book attempted to "disprove" anything: I've never even seen it. I said that arguments can't be "disproved": they can only be shown to be fallacious.
-
Semantics. Ad hominem. You lose. Want to play again?
-
The thing is, I've never glanced at Wilson's book, and have no idea if it is any good. But as someone who actually teaches logic at a university, I know YOU are a complete fraud, who is defending "reason" as a mere tribal identification technique!

The book appears to be an attempt by a peeved christian author to take a swing at the source of his grievance and badly bruising his knuckles because he has no idea he is punching a towering cliff of rock.

The only disguise is the author posing as an authority on Darwin.

From the anti-science tool box. If you cant refute the science attack the scientist. Ad hominem

For Christ’s sake, now I gotta go find out where this author lives and go beat the shit out of him this weekend? I just wanted to take it easy.

Sounds so bad it wasn't fit to be published even back in Darwin's day. What's the publisher smoking?

Paywall - synopsis anyone?

From the back of the book: "[was]On the Origin of Species, really what it seemed, a work about natural history? Or was it in fact a consolation myth for the Victorian middle classes, reassuring them that selfishness and indifference to the poor were part of nature’s grand plan?"
-
Aww thank you... That’s kind to reply. Well judging the book by the cover and your summary, I’m going to go with the first proposal.

An actual Darwinian Nazi would have to believe that Aryans are superior in some environments but not others.

Heard him speak abt the book a few months back. One of the least informative, most disdainful presentations I've ever experienced. V disappointing.
