Another specious defense of faith (=:reasons why we should trust unreason). The usual fallacies: 1. "Rationalists must have faith in reason" (no, we don't *believe in* reason; we *use* reason). "https://nyti.ms/2prBjm9

Nobody is pretending that emotions doesn’t exists, or that representing philosophical ideas in fictions is a bad thing. We are saying that the fact that I love Jon Snow doesn’t mean that he exist.

Sweetheart, you really didn't get it what he or Tolkien meant. And that's okay! Religion's not for everyone. Just don't fall into the trap of thinking that once something is useful, it is by definition no longer faith.

It is not faith. Thinking that Aesop fables says interesting things about life isn’t « having faith in Aesop fables ». It’s just a total misuse of the word faith.

In fact, if you use the word « faith » in this context, you use a different meaning of « faith » that doesn’t apply to « I have faith that God exist ».

Reason is a valued aspect of spiritual transformation, and has been discussed in this manner for centuries. I would encourage you to read St. John of the Cross; The Dark Night of the Soul. I imagine this reading would add a little faith to your rationalism:)

This article and the entire thread 😫 It’s just word games. Ppl of “faith” these days apply whatever the heck meaning they want -useful meanings for their apologist position- to stay away from what the fundamental meaning of religious faith is:the voluntary suspension of reason

“Denying the existence of God is as much a leap of faith as asserting it.” Nope. Not even close. And with this incredible display of derpitude, I stopped reading.

Apples and oranges here . I can't even argue . Lol. Listen . You all will spend your life sticking to your guns of truth that God isn't real. It's your opinion. Then there is us who have seen miracles and know God . We have peace . We hope someday you will to.

You define faith in a way that no one else ever asserted. Then you attack an argument that was never made in the article. Another specious attack on faith. Did you even read the article, or are you just being disingenuous?
