Stop saying 2017 (like 2016) was the worst year ever. Notwithstanding you-know-who, Marian Tupy's http://HumanProgress.org  recounts 82 amazing developments of the year.http://humanprogress.org/blog/the-worlds-getting-better-all-the-time …

Probably a good list, but the typeface is too light to read. As they say, editors can’t see, designers don’t read. This one sure didn’t.

Of course 2017 wasn't the worst year ever, nor was 2016. But this everything-is-getting-better-all-the-time starts to look like a religious cult that ignores any contrary evidence.

All valid points. But America is only 5% +/- of the World.

Agreed. Perhaps we need at least 2 categories of measurements: 1) How things are improving for billions of people. 2) How none of that will matter if we continue to destroy the planet.

Tell that to the people who stand to lose health coverage with the repeal of the individual mandate, or the kids whose CHIP hasn’t been refunded, or the people who will be being for high earners to get precious tax cars. Stop telling us how to feel.

The 82 points are mainly medical/ AI advances. Not sure those override the extremist Republicans’ now incessant damage to our democracy.

Indeed, overall the year was good. The USA, in several ways, was an exception to this general positive trend.
