Excellent short intro to an idea whose time may have come: Universal Basic Income. From @Apoliticalco: The one thing libertarians, lefties, tech gurus and feminists agree onhttps://apolitical.co/solution_article/universal-basic-income-essential-you-need-to-know/ …

Libertarians do not agree with UBI. It is astonishing how some brilliant minds in one field lack judgement and pretend to be able to engineer society.

Universal income is a pipe dream in an environment where global/ tech companies resist paying taxes and regulation. Imagine they are happy we distract ourselves with this rather than having substantial conversations about the future of democracy and work.

Nice thought, terrible idea. We should constantly elevate our standard of "basic" needs. Improve methods to meet those needs (housing, food, health care, etc). Just providing money and hoping people will meet those needs on their own would end very poorly for those in most need.

I found this out when I dated a social worker who worked with the homeless. I was amazed to find out that money almost never helped these people, and often made their problems worse.

It is far more clear that people understand neither systems nor interdependence nor higher order impacts, and few of these articles make it clear enough how grokking these things will determine the future

This is a horrible idea. UBI will be the death of our culture and human freedom. All political battles and political capital will be about the size of UBI not policies to promote freedom and growth.

Without correcting the inequity of money creation, BI can at best placate the masses with the minimum support required to prevent revolt.. ..while maintaining control by few Including each in money creation, makes each an equal partner in our Shared global economy
