The gender equality debate easily warps into the de-gendering of females and assimilating them to male norms.

And usually parallels decrying all of said norms as somehow toxic without a hint of irony.

@HPluckrose I was trying to make this point (poorly) a few weeks ago and generated a "pfft" from you... -
From me?! I have also argued that we shouldn't consider men's choices as the default for humans.pic.twitter.com/C23luCN8bz

I was just coming to show you this as an example of what we were talking abt earlier. Exemplary seeming to address whilst missing point.pic.twitter.com/FKboTsdIsi

Jeez, that guy is frustrating. He acts like the intersectional theorists are impeccable academics while you're disingenuous.

Peak apologism. Me:This is what is happening drawing on key ideas of X religion/ideology. Them: Defend relig/ideology using obscurantist woo

Men should be able to do traditional feminine roles and actions and women masculine. Men should care, love and nature. Women rule & lead.
-
Breaking out of traditional feminine and masculine behaviour for men and women, that's equality to me
-
If there are no differences in our experiences as members of each gender then how can certain traits manifest universally?
-
There is difference between "being allowed to" & "being required to". Absolutely there are gender traits but there is a continuum & overlap

Interesting and compelling but still important not to extrapolate from norms to assume specifics about individual men or women

It’s not only women but all of us non-alpha males that are under pressure to conform to alpha’s norms.

Why expect all men to adopt "male-determined goals?" Seems less an argument for gender distinctions than for more options for all.
