Did outlawing war help? I'm more sympathetic than reviewer, but all agree the decline of war needs to be explained.https://nyti.ms/2yfifqK

Nuclear weapons did much more to prevent large scale war than making it illegal. Something about mutually assured destruction.

is decline of war a statistical error? @nntaleb 'in the last 500 years humanity has shown to be as violent as usual' https://arxiv.org/pdf/1505.04722.pdf …

Many reasons. One is that acquiring land & manpower (slaves) no longer economically sensible. War of conquest does not make sense.

Maybe in part there are enough people of a certain motivation placated by peace through fear of wealth loss? War is usually desperation now

There are several obvious reasons for the decline. But it was not that piece of paper.

Mainly demographic reasons. Search for Gunnar Heinsohn's 'war index'. He's a genocide researcher.

Western Birth control? Effectively means the world's only superpower, neither has manpower to burn away, nor scarcity to expand against.

Just a hypothesis, might be worth comparing such graphs if that's possible. Those 2 would be the main natural dynamics, I'd think.
