I'm surprised that there hasn't been a stronger push for a Democrat - Christian alliance. Flip 5% of evangelicals and you win 2018 and 2020.

Of course abortion is the big wedge issue, but there's got to be some evangelicals who feel uncomfortable with Trump & recent GOP trends.
-
Highly doubtful from what I've seen. Tend to be one of the bigger groups going along eagerly with Trumpism. Of the small % not going along,
-
... many of them defer to certain evangelical leaders/figureheads who have likewise thrown support behind Trump.
-
Agree it might not work. But we don't really know what could happen if Dem's explicitly co-opt a unified neo- family values framework...
-
... that is pro-decency, pro-civility, anti- Fox executive, anti-groping, and - maybe - more explicity pro-Christian.
-
I think it's politically low-risk, with potential high upside.
-
Yeah, I can't argue with that. It would be a tremendous coup if it happened.

Evangelicals are basically racist, sexist, uneducated scumballs using the Bible to justify their hatred and ignorance.
