.@sapinker @fsnole1 But that has nothing to do with the quoted assertion, which is true by definition (and by other arguable accounts).

Thx Mr Fact-Checker-Man! Did it escape your fact-checker-mind that this Trump quote makes no reference to "War deaths"?

Someone should remind him what Europe was like before the EU, which he's trying to undermine.
-
We have soldiers on the streets of our cities under the EU's managment.
@sapinker -
You've heard of the World Wars, right?
-
You've heard of NATO right?
@sapinker -
You mean that other alliance Trump is trying to undermine?
-
What has that got to do with me? Are you suggesting NATO doesn't deserve credit?
@sapinker -
NATO is a military alliance, it doesn't resolve hundreds of other issues over which wars can start. The EU does.
-
Give me some examples where the EU resolved an issue that would have led to war.

@FabiusMaximus01 -
Neither are idiots. That's a deep misunderstanding of US politics. Nicholas Taleb-level misunderstanding.
-
exactly. Both very intelligently exploited different people's interests, fears, etc.
