I respect Robert Wright, but his arguments (NYT) that evolution has a purpose are fatally flawed https://whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com/2016/12/13/robert-wright-in-the-nyt-evolution-could-have-a-higher-purpose/ … via @Evolutionistrue

Steve, did you read my piece or are you relying on Coyne? Leaving aside his ad hominem attack, he misrepresents my argument.

In ACF Dewey describes a faith w/o anything supernatural. Listening to you always reminds me of it.

This is old ground. Teilhard de Chardin advanced this notion more than half a century ago. It can only be taken as a novel element of faith, not science.

fine to dissociate/believe in contradictory systems. Not fine to let one (religion) invade theother (science).

The problem is in using "purpose" so expansively as to include "unattended toy of intelligent life 3 bn years ago."

Lucubration. Both the Mrs & I agree that this word is a troublesome one; Often requiring a second read to properly assimilate.
