@sapinker people who use the word "scientism" should be poked in the eye repeatedly. Until they stop.

@sapinker Well, it’s doesn’t seem scientific to render Kripal representative for the humanities, or religious studies even.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@sapinker I enjoy Coyne's writing but doesn't this just return the straw man favor against a fideism of sorts? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@sapinker actually, Kripal's article is a much needed antidote to scientism. ESP research is no less scientific than any other field. -
@michaelmhughes@sapinker some ESP research may indeed be scientific. Those that are scientific show no ESP. -
@nicholas_grillo@sapinker that is incorrect. You clearly haven't looked at the primary research and meta-analyses. -
@michaelmhughes if credible research with repeated, positive results proving ESP existed neuroscientists would be shouting from rooftops -
@nicholas_grillo Check out the names on this open letter, check their CVs, then look at their research. http://journal.frontiersin.org/Journal/10.3389/fnhum.2014.00017/full … -
@michaelmhughes I will look at their research. Thank you for the link. -
@nicholas_grillo Thank you for a willingness to look. Most critics haven't, and won't. -
@michaelmhughes I've been wrong too many times in my life to assume much. - 1 more reply

@sapinker@SamHarrisOrg You are conflating the opinions of a few people with "the humanities." How are they a representative sample? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@sapinker@christianjbdev Not everyone in the humanities supports such nonsense. A big problem is publishers like this stuff. -
@NathanHuntMedia I accept that - although there does seem to be a worrying trend towards post-modernist nonsense.

@sapinker Yeah, you might understand why those of us who use science in our humanities work have a hard time getting an academic job.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
