Working fewer hours, having higher quality of life. I care about social justice, but free-trade is the opposite. Women who buy a cheap, foreign made dishwasher may benefit. The foreign women who make them will lose. Neoliberalism is a race for the bottom.

You're mistaken. If they would have a better life not working the job, then they wouldn't take the job. I'm not saying the jobs are good; they're often terrible and we should demand better. But these people's lives before industrialisation were even more miserable.

Another article that conflates technological efficiency with market availability. The cost of household appliances was going down even when they were made domestically. Making them by slaves in China wasn't a radical reduction in price, it was a reduction in jobs for same women

You mean you'll have to pay a decent wage to workers in the US, instead of slave like conditions in Malaysia. That's a reasonable debate, but it's not even the point of the article. Whole article is just a strawman
