Undoing global warming: Breakthrough Institute’s Alex Trembath uses Tversky & Kahneman’s “undoing” thought experiments to avoid pointless nostalgia & regret about climate change, a prerequisite to dealing with it responsibly today. https://thebreakthrough.org/index.php/voices/undoing-global-warming …

I find it funny that people will go off and study complex subjects and learn how in-depth they are and how much they dont know. But they see one headline and theyre certain of it's implications and who's fault it is and what to do about it.

It’s nice to have an opinion... It’s strangely a biproduct of human progress that idiots can sit there on their computers and opine on complex subject they know nothing about

That global warming idea was from Freakonomics btw... Balmer or whatever, one of the founders of Microsoft has a think tank that came up with the idea... basically mimicking volcanic activity my shooting sulfur dioxide into the upper atmosphere thereby lowering temperatures

This piece, like almost all others, ignores the elephant in the room, even though in this case actually mentioning it.(Caps added )"Without question, the two biggest things that have driven emissions up in the last 30 years are A RISING POPULATION and rising human prosperity,..."

A subsequent paragraph, addressing potential responses not taken, entirely omits "rising population" or attempting to address it. :

" Hypothetically, we could have nationalized energy sectors, created mandates for clean energy technologies, and rapidly decarbonized à la France’s nuclear push in the 1970s." No mention of population related policies, attempted or theoretical, at all.

This article puts the blame for climate change on "WE". But "WE" are giving no choice, no power, no truth. If prosperity is ascribed to the brilliance and control of the monetary #MasterRace, as you claim, then Climate Change is their responsibility.

The Koch brothers spend a fortune preventing climate action. You, for some mysterious reason, post ridiculous Koch Industries propaganda. But yeah, the reason there was no government action against climate change is because "WE" are so effing stupid.

The goal of the private ponzi scheme called capitalism is to consume as many resources as possible as fast as possible. It demands infinite exponential growth of consumption and consumers. These people are the cause of climate change.

Material/Monetary poverty is not a problem in itself. Hunter/gatherers had zero money (and zero debt) and they were happy before they were sent to the slums (to earn a dollar a day). The problem with poverty is how the rich treat and exploit the poor.

I regret having once participated in a movement fighting nuclear power plants. If we had not given up on nuclear power and developed the technology further, the climate catastrophe could be averted. In spite of Chernobyl and Fukushima, it’s by far the safest clean technology.
