Money Really Does Lead to a More Satisfying Life (The old study showing lottery winners are no happier in the long run was underpowered and misreported. Lottery winners really are more satisfied over the long term.)https://nyti.ms/2PC6Qe7

Oh man. Knowing lottery winners were miserable used to get me through the day. Not anymore! 😭

What about those who don’t enter lotteries? Are they happier or less happy than those who do but don’t win?pic.twitter.com/gaOcMEb52l

Wow. This IS news to me. I bought it, that lottery winners always wind up miserable. I really am glad to learn that that is not true!.... Now I can go ahead again and buy lottery tickets and become rich! This is great!

All things are relative. Less happy people are more likely to play a poor probabilistic gamble like a lottery and be more thankful for a positive outcome that rarely comes true.

Up to what point though? Where do we start seeing significant diminishing marginal utility?

The problem with our current money system is that for a few to be able to have a lot the majority has to have little.
