Woman bites dog: A female academic luminary has a wildly inappropriate sexual relationship with a male grad student (and her academic fans mount a wildly inappropriate defense).https://nyti.ms/2MpNASe

when a man uses Title IX, it’s wrong? i don’t understand how you can’t see the double standard here. is Title IX for equality? and the backlash is... absurd. every issue with men defending other men abusers is employed here.

what IS a feminist? if it’s about equality, then everyone coming to this professors defense is NOT a feminist. some strands of feminism hate men for doing the exact same things as this professor. but because she’s powerful, and says she’s a “feminist”, she’s all the sudden OK.

This story exposes the tribalism and hypocrisy of some powerful feminist academics - it does not discredit the whole concept of "feminism".

I mean based on the statistics of cases reported by males v females, yeah maybe it wasn’t. Laws are universal but the way they’re enforced is specific to a specific group or type of people. Sad but true.

ah yes, why did he take so long to report the incident? why did he not behave as I have determined a victim should behave? surely, if he were *actually* a victim, he would be way better at it.

Politics has devolved into nothing more than disputes opposing factions. "Identity politics" and anti-modernism has disregarded the universalist idea that one law can apply to all. The people who complain about privilege are also asking for different laws for different people.

This is a window into professor-culture's most admired & coveted perk: to be a malignantly aggrandized personality with tyrannical privilege. Here they are dressed up for mixed-company. It's far more horrific in the trenches. Even mere symbolic opposition equals career suicide.
