Well his views on a lot of topics like these were the only thing that stopped me and im sure many others from suicide, so even though im an atheist i just cant help but love the guy.

I've had a similar experience, and though I fully accept that not all he says is true or factual, some of his lectures were and remain of great importance to me.
-
Important how? (I ask with respect and genuine interest.)
-
Sounds like sentimentality, but that shouldn't be the basis for intellectual loyalty. It gets crazy fast when people start acting like apostles to their appointed prophets. Keep on going with the journey of truth. It doesn't end with Peterson.
-
I wouldn't say I'm loyal, but rather thankful for the positive impact his work had had on me. I have since discovered other people whose ideas I'm exploring.
-
Glad to hear that.

For starters, he believes that the judeo-christian god is some kind of archetype that bootstraps metaphysics: nonsense. On top of that, he believes that what is "true" is that which is useful for the survival of our species--ironically the most post-modern thing I've ever heard.
-
[1] He teaches the exact opposite of Marxist ideology. His theory of "truth" is still based on evidence, and he argues them through psychology, anthropology, evolutionary biology, history, and evidence. Have you ever watch his Biblical studies? They're long but I would take the

Your second passive-aggressive tweet regarding JBP. Got beef? Debate him!

Yeah I watched that. I was hoping for a debate. It wasn't.

-
If you listen to Steven's criticism of Nietzsche you would realize, that you are absolutely right.
-
Is there some where to read or listen to the criticism?

Atheist as anyone; also a Peterson fan. One doesn't need to take mythology as literal to comprehend the accrued wisdom it contains. Everyone seems to have lost the ability to think beyond a "believe/condemn!" it all dialectic. Black/white tyrannical fanaticism reigns supreme.
-
Metaphoric thinking and deep imagination are dying in our too-literal, hyper-intellectual culture, so everyone sees things in black and white. My interpretation, but I could be wrong.
-
Thought itself is metaphorical. To say that metaphorical thought & language could ever die is incorrect unless we count the death of humanity as a possibility..
-
Valid point. We use metaphors at different levels of mental processing When these levels are disjoint & disconnected from the conscious thought processes and decision-making, we observe atrophy of imagination => shallow & meaningless life. My intuition: integration important
