A decade ago Dinesh D’Souza repeatedly invited me to debate him on God. I'm glad I declined, & didn't help publicize a mendacious fanatic who's gone off the deep end. David Frum laments the downward spiral of US intellectual conservatism.https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/08/dinesh-dsouza-is-making-a-comeback/567233/ …

Strong conservatism merely asks questions about the sustainability and desirability of change. Our democracy needs this. None of the famous “conservatives” in this country are really conservatives IMO because they do not ask questions; they espouse thoughtless outdated pieties.

Good for you. D'Souza has always been a sort of college fratboy style of intellectural engagment, pushing indefensible Orwellian inversions of truth ("Racism is over", "The goals of the left are aligned with Nazism", etc.) just to get book sales and annoy the libs.

It's easy to work out who's on the dark side of history, they're aligned with Islam, Marx, postmodernism, and white supremacy. I'll leave you to judge which of these is most powerful in the institutions.

David Frum had a seat at the table while the Republican party incubated these current horrors. Ask him to apologize for the Iraq war and Bush's disastrous economic policies before you retweet his thoughts on the bankruptcy of the modern conservative movement.
