Sounds like psychological good sense to me. I've just finished watching Blue Planet series with my wife. The panorama of dying coral was simply depressing, despite the urging by the narrator that we can do something about it. Science is playing defense, and not well.

Can we remind people that nobody started out saying they were "doomed". This issue has been warned about with conservative estimates in the public since 1988 and in government circles long time before that. ... but obstruction and misinformation just made it continuously worse.

Jesus, Steven. Read the headlines. We're about to pass and environmental Rubicon. The only individual action we can take is to vote. That's it. Encourage people to vote Democrat because insane Republican deregulation is pushing us over a cliff.
-
You can't be serious. Under Obama we permanently shut down more carbon free energy than all of the solar power produced in the US. Under Clinton and a Democratic Senate we shout down the IFR project which would have solved climate change globally. Cuomo is killing Indian Point NY
-
First of all, are you saying Trump is better for the environment than Obama? You're joking. In 2016, US CO2 emissions were falling across all sectors. Obama's clean power plan, that Trump abandoned, would have had half of our electricity emissions free by 2025.
-
Plus, nuclear energy isn't emissions free. That's a stupid argument.
-
Nuclear power emits 1/4th the emissions of solar panels according to the IPCC. If you deny the science of the IPCC, you might as well deny climate change.
-
Due respect, but the environmental impact and potential impact of solar vs nuclear...look we can troll each other’s positions here and I can accuse you of misrepresenting the IPCC 2014 report, and you can try to frame me as some sort of science denier or we can talk. U choose.

My primary concern, and the reason for climate change having become largely a partisan issue, is how do proposed actions to curb climate change affect regulations & the free markets? For real change to happen, I think climate change needs to become bipartisan (1)
-
through efforts that are minimally intrusive on free markets. In what ways can we offer better incentives for businesses to be eco-friendly? I think climate related issues would be taken more seriously if there was a good faith proposition to move bipartisan.
-
Carbon tax, removing fossil fuel subsidies, adding green energy subsidies are just a few examples. We do have to accept that the transition to a carbon neutral economy will not, and cannot, come without economic stress. The key is to absorb the stress now, it'll be worse later.

I just want to know how the earth warms and cools on it’s own first and how we can quantify it so we know how much humans contribute. Seems like there are no firm answers.

I first learned about global warming in 1982 while taking my grade 10 geography class. For the rest of the 80s I wondered why it didn’t get more attention. Then I saw the media and politicians eventually take hold of the issue and wished they hadn’t.
