Ali Rizvi takes on the condescending prejudice that Muslims can't be expected to appreciate liberalism, feminism, humanism, secularism, & other Enlightenment ideals. https://quillette.com/2018/07/28/liberals-have-compromised-on-their-own-values-an-interview-with-ali-a-rizvi/ … via @QuilletteM

How do you prove Enlightenment values when every major thinker from that time disagreed with one another and Chinese are advanced yet don’t follow them?

I take it Nazism also came out of the Enlightenment everything from the Enlightenment area must be perfect and forced on other societies. @TurkshVan @ThatKidZaza Alt rightists are low IQ contrarian shills.

A "new Enlightenment" in the Arabic world isn't going to cut it. The more capitalist/wealthier/technologically advanced counties become, the more secular they become: something both social scientists and extremists know. We need an Intellectual proper rep. of Islam in the conv.

I'd suggest one Prof. Seyyed Hossein Nasr of George Washington University. He knows his Jung qua J. Peterson, philosophy/theology and religion and the issues Muslims face. Proper discussion with those on top of their game is the only decent way out.https://youtu.be/rmdZCkJhJ4o

But it's not us that have to have that conversation. I mean, we should, but we don't have to. The people who have to have that conversation are religious extremists buried in dogma. Muslim intellectuals are not the problem and I would certainly like to see more of them.

I agree. A Muslim intellectual in the debate would mitigate inimical fractured narratives around Islam & the West. There are some real issues, the solutions to which aren't going to come from the state/more of the same thinking. This could have considerable local level impact.

I mean, most Muslims are nice, reasonable people, or so I believe. But that is in spite of their religion and doesn't change the fact their religion expressly teaches against some of these things mentioned. For what it's worth though I'm nearly as strongly against Christianity

Christianity is like the lowest fruit. I roll my eyes whenever progressive are okey to kick the dying horse ( Christianity) but sweat bullets when it comes to Islam! Either You're for equality and are not afraid to call b.s. or you're too afraid to be called a racist!

christianity is on its dying embers in western europe and will probably be all but irrelevant in 20 years when you look at demographics. That europe took centuries to defang one ridiculous belief system and then allows one similarly terrible to fill the void is utterly depressing

Anti-feminism should be a universal principle for men of all ethnicities/religions. Anti-feminist muslims & anti-feminist Christians need to combat feminism together.

Feminism is more than that definition. It’s a ideology that posits men/women differences in things like career interests etc are due to society. That’s just not true. There is a clear biological component & no amount of feminism change that. https://www.math.kth.se/matstat/gru/5b1501/F/sex.pdf …pic.twitter.com/ssLXlZr6Hy

I encourage you read the writings of the original feminist academics writings. It had that troubling foundation from the beginning. And personally, from a traditional Christian POV, I think it separates & divides the holy union btwn man & woman...not good.
