As a result of the Quiet Revolution in my native Quebec (eg, Mass attendance 95% > 5%), churches & convents are being repurposed (including by my alma mater Dawson College @mydawsoncollege, now in a former nunnery).https://nyti.ms/2mT486Z

I love the Orwellian "repurposed". Fetish parties in a former church are, is not "culture" but the very definition of decadence. They only exist because of the sacrifices of those who proceeded them.

Imagine being happy about this. You people have no class, no taste, and no soul. Just consume the next Iphone, ya freaks.

At last people are growing up. Repurposing churches, etc. into reading rooms means that intelligent use is being made of outdated buildings!

As irreligious as I am, I'm not sure I can wholeheartedly subscribe to the idea of historic churches being used for fetish parties . . .

95% - 5%!!! Incredible. I think that the best destination for these buildings is related to culture, especially music, for its acoustics.

why not, as I recall the early church repurposed existing pagan sites throughout Europe to set up their new improved superstition factories. As a recovering catholic from Montreal, it’s nice to see these beautiful structures being repurposed, the architecture can be stunning.

Churches could also be used for yoga and other spiritual practices. Often much thought and awareness went into their construction, and they can be places of awe, peace, and unity for anyone regardless of beliefs or biases. Dismal is the culture that has no sacred spaces to offer.

I never understood the concept of finding God inside of a dark Building. I rather go to the mountains or Beach to see how magníficent the world it is. Inside of a bldg? No thanks.

I'm glad these beautiful buildings were safeguarded even if they no longer fulfill their initial function. I understand those who bemoan such a state of affairs but far better that than to see them demolished.
