The fundamental fact about climate change attitudes: They’re driven by Left-vs-Right polarization, not scientific ignorance.https://nyti.ms/2NOfVPh

Outside the US (and to some extent Australia), climate change is not strongly associated with the Left or the Right: https://twitter.com/michael_nielsen/status/1023024326927245312 … In India, for instance, it's associated to the Left, about as much as to the Right in Australia.

In most countries, climate skepticism is not strongly associated with political position. The USA (&, to some extent, Australia) are outliers. https://twitter.com/NGruen1/status/1023018199984435200 …

The term "climate change" is vague. I do not know of anybody that believes the climate does not change. Some hold that human activity is not responsible for climate change, the degree to which humans contribute to climate change is minuscule, and/or it doesn't matter.

Exactly. And while we argue about what is causing it, we're doing NOTHING about addressing the fallout. How will we provide food? Where will people live after rising oceans obliterate coastal areas? How do we pay for extreme weather disasters?

No, they're driven by right-wing and corporate propaganda. Accepting solid science overwhelmingly accepted in the academy used to be a default position. Corporations and they're handmaids ran a PR campaign to create doubt. Stop pretending this is a both sides thing.

Interesting article, but it concludes by saying “political disagreement was substantially smaller when it came to Republican-backed policies.” Which suggests that Dems are the ones who are less blinded by ideology.

Astronomy(Milankovich cycles), chemistry, biology, oceanography, and geology all point consistently to a warming signal. What about an economic solution? The argument against this signal? “We hate regulation as a solution, therefore, the science is wrong.”

You were good right up to "therefore the science is wrong" The polls say different but your statement speaks directlt to why Repubs don't trust Dems. They lie to suit their narrative. Oh and before you go off on the Trump lies bullshit, I voted H so try something else.

Did you read the article? The research says otherwise. Why do you disagree with it? Do you have some evidence for why it is something else? I am no Republican just seems the research points elsewhere.

Cant say I agree with the proposition. I was a strong climate change advocate (global warming actually before it was rebranded) until i studied the skeptics. I changed my mind. I can bet almost none of you have really studied the skeptics or listened deeply to what they say.

Start with Google and then follow the trail. Stay away from news and articles. Listen instead to their lectures, books and/or papers. I am not an expert but neither am I an expert economics and a great many other subjects. Still i have my view and do my study.
