Fusion power could be the best thing that ever happened to humanity, and it's no longer "30 years away and always will be." You can help by supporting the Fusion XPRIZE on @indiegogo https://igg.me/p/2372897/twtr

We already have a gigantic fusion reactor 150 million km away. We can capture its energy better.

The sun's energy dissipates fast and only a tiny tiny fraction hits our planet

About 100 petawatts do. World energy (electricity generation, heating etc.) consumption is about 4 petawatts (we also need light for crop photosynthesis etc.).

But solar panels are very ineffective. Nuclear energy is still better.

In India, solar is now cheaper than coal. Of course, not all countries are as insolated

We are doing wind energy PPA’s in the $ teens/MWhr at 50% net capacity factor. Wind and solar + storage also very cheap. How much lower do we need to go on price before considered “breakthrough “?

Love you man, but don’t trust people on crowdfunding websites... If their idea was truly revolutionary they wouldn’t need to crowdfund it, private companies would be begging to give them money. #Scam

Fusion may be scientifically feasible, but none of the proposed versions are economically feasible. The biggest reason? Tritium. You need to breed it to fuel fusion reactors unless you can figure out how to get an order of magnitude better confinement. Engineering nightmare!

If fusion power really was possible it would easily support itself. It would make the developers wealth and the rest of us very happy. Asking for support tells me it’s “30 years away” and getting more so..

Fusion power was the coming thing sixty years ago, as I recall it, but the problems to be overcome still seem to be the same today.

Would love to see controlled fusion. But do you think something this small could be successfully crowdfunded?
