Attacking questionable invocations of free speech (eg., the bizarre Citizens United decision) is one thing, but the principle itself can't be questioned, or else the questioner him- or herself could be legitimately silenced. "Free Speech" should NEVER be allowed to promote/incite/spread violence, racism, pedophilia & other criminal activities.

If free speech is eliminated, the great news is that those who will wield the wand of censorship are sure to be noble & fair. They’ll have no concern for power or control. If you read history, restricted free speech has only resulted in state coddling joy & blissfull freedom

I mean seriously, read the decision. It never said "corporations are people." Why? Because the 1st amendment protects speech NOT speakers. It also had nothing, NOTHING, to do with money. It was a speech ban against speakers if they happened to be organized as a corp.

I think you need to spend sometime explaining what freedom of speech is, because many seem confused that keeping the government from restricting speech isn't the same as endorsing said speech. That lack of understand has put many principles of the enlightenment at risk.

Please explain how the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision is “silly”... Media critical of candidates can’t be censored by elected officials regardless of the insidious effects of big money in our politics.

If ONLY those with corporate money can afford to control the political dialogue, we end with Plutocracy, Oligarchy, anti-american, anti-democratic autocracy/kleptocracy..as the current illegitimate Putin/Trump/Alt-Right/GOP fascists illustrate. Citizens United is NOT Free Speech.

Just more evidence to me that my views haven’t changed, the “left” has moved even more left. And unfortunately “more left” looks an awful lot like “more right”.

Citizens United was correctly decided, and in perfect harmony with principles of free speech. Incumbents and well known politicians may not like speech critical of them, but they are not entitled to use the machinations of government to suppress it.

Had Citizens United been decided the other way, I would fear the slippery slope of banning books, editorials, and any other means of communication brought by collectives that the government deemed unlawful.
