THANK YOU for posting this. As someone that treats adult and child victims of sexual predation, I’m sick of hearing the bizarre myth that “power” is the prime motivator - A feeble attempt to figuratively control male aggression with intellectualization...

Like most other politically-tinged myths, this is perpetuated by an incapacity for dichotomy. We need to accept that the male libido can be BOTH a powerful destroyer, and a powerful creator. Society needs the courage to accept both realities in order to adapt and grow.

Good read, but the author doesn't bifurcate sex/power. Power's relationship to sex is worth examining because power prevents the inhibition to control urges. To quote the article: "If people with power are able to avoid consequences, sometimes such insights may just not come"

And also is quite terrifying of a read if you put yourself comparatively on trial throughout the article realizing you locate somewhere on that spectrum—on the side of self control, keeping your thoughts to yourself. It answered a few profound questions I’ve had since childhood.
