I think your hair looks fine.
Is Trump a populist? I am not so sure. Maybe he just has populist campaign marketing. A clash between political correctness hypocrisy and gross emotional manipulation. Trump, here comes... The Clash! http://pajobvios.blogspot.fr/2016/11/trump-here-comes-clash.html …
Of course, that's all a matter of taste, and everybody justifies their own tastes. But these photos are cool, and you might just enjoy Stephen King's "The Shining" or "11/22/63" if you tried them with an open mind. PS Finally saw your latest TED Talk and really enjoyed it.
"Old white men are the core voters of Trump, Brexit and xenophobic parties." Is that even factually correct? I'm very surprised by that statement coming from you.
Also, very concerning you forgot to mention maybe the strongest populism of our days, the one coming from third wave feminism. Which is the one that produces precisely the kind of statement you just said there.
"Populists are afraid of cosmpolitanism, women's rights, minority rights... That scares old white men, who are the core advocates of Trump, Brexit and xenophobic parties". That implication is very disturbing.
For example, you once said in an interview that you think surreal fiction is "cheating" (or something to that effect) & compared literary fiction to tightrope walking "without a net." I'd think sustaining a reader's ability to believe in the impossible is a more impressive act.
Those pictures are amazing. I think if you have any weakness discernable from the vantage point of your readers (who don't really know you outside your writing & interviews) it's that you're not open to things like speculative fiction or more alternative, interpretive art forms.
Steven, you call Trump and others “anti-science” but how can they be anti-science when it’s liberals that call a man dressed like a woman a “woman” and vice-versa. Also, it’s possible to defend capitalism and western values + traditional family and social conservativism (as I do)
Woman vs female. I see where your POV originated, but woman is a social construction (implicated by) derivative of female. Hopefully people don’t get confused about what box to check at the doctors office...
Being a woman is a consequence of being a female, not a social construction. Being a female defines certain behaviours that are different to the behaviours that men have as a consequence of being male. Brains and hormons are biologically different.
And men and women overlap in their expression of those behaviors AND those hormones such that any singular definition of man/woman must be a construct of their society.
Just a little scary....
