His inputs on intelligence research likely mislead him.

Warning readers - Bill Gates success has nothing to do with these. He was a billionaire long back. Success is relative. Worldly success depends on hard work, IQ, chance and initiative- never books. Of course there are successes other than worldly success.

I agree that you can achieve success without books but to claim that they have no correlation is too much imo

Success can be measured in differnt domains. For solitude, learning books are good. But real world cannot be modeled by books. They can influence someone in early life, but are not the primary cause of worldly success.

I'd say that the books he reads are one of the reflections of why he is successful.

Coincidences. It is said Ford was the book signing of the author of “Think and grow rich”. Ford asked him how he had come to the book shop, he replied public transport. Ford told him he will sign his book when he makes enough money to afford a car by the principles of his book!
