In 2013, the Democrats pulled the trigger on "The nuclear option", which allows nominees for cabinet posts and federal judgeships to be confirmed with only 51 votes. Remember Mitch McConnell's words? "You'll regret this, and you may regret this a lot sooner than you think."
If this election is contested, it may well wind up at the discretion of the Supreme Court to decide the future of our democracy.
