    Private equity firms have acquired a lot of commercial property in cities over the past decade or two. Due to the pandemic, lots of those properties, especially hotels, are basically producing zero cashflow. You would think that would put PE firms in a bad position, but…

    There's absolutely no excuse to point a gun at children playing outside their home. I expect the Durham Police Department to conduct a full investigation of this incident and to hold the officers who harmed these children accountable for their actions.

    ONLY ON WRAL: Police officers are accused of pulling guns on three children who were playing tag at their apartment complex. Two of the kids — ages 8 and 15 — spoke to WRAL, saying they are traumatized. The 15-year-old says he was placed in handcuffs. Story on TV at 5:30

    Something Hasidic (and I believe most, if not all, Ultra-Orthodox) synagogues get right: No flags. Ever. As a matter of policy, practice, and theological belief. Not much I would export from the structure of Hasidic synagogues. But perhaps no flags is one thing they got right.

    So they'll shut down Raleigh because of protestors (who have killed zero people) but not because of COVID (which has killed 180,000+).

    For the first time since June, has issued a curfew from 10pm to 5am for this Friday and Saturday. The issuance contained very few details - all we know is there are "limited exemptions to the curfew".

    The iconography of the colonial state has no place in a religious house. Every American synagogue, church, mosque, gurdwara, and spiritual center sits on stolen Indigenous land. We need to reckon with this as people of faith. We need to do proper teshuvah.
