I am working on a peer to peer network but am unable to send a message when a change of routers is involved. Is this somewhat involved with NAT?

More details please...how are you sending the message? Across what channel? How is the connection/communication established?

Not sure I can help with the RCE, but we have some other firewall bypassing work (http://censorship.ai ); let me know if you'd like to compare notes!
-
Interesting project! Always happy to compare notes as networks interest me, though in this case the tool is to *enter* a remote target's LAN, bypassing the ingress protection rather than egress which appears to be the goal of your project.

This is relevant to my interests, does it need to be a valid session? Lots of fun to be had with older modems/routers if not.

Define session?

How about the LAN interface of the router/firewall itself?
-
The attack allows you to reach services bound to the LAN interface of the targeted user. * or LAN, however if only bound to localhost, attack won't help communicate with that service...actually...hmmm it can, sort of, but can only talk to newline-based services. UDP as well

I guess upnp ...

Good guess, but doesn't involve UPnP.
