The promise of web3 is that we can change this.

A real community needs two things:
1. Skin in the game: psychological, social & financial
2. Affection: not for the creator but for it's members

Most Discord, Telegram, Facebook groups have neither.
ICO's created mostly just financial skin in the game.
Some NFT projects added psychological and social skin in the game as well.

Most NFT projects are just balloons full of semi hot air, released at launch and bouncing around a room.
Harnessing this new 'nuclear power' of real communities is going to take some time and understanding to get right.
