I always thought it'd be an interesting paper to compare the intellectual trajectories of Sullivan and Dan Savage, how they both arrived at incredibly similar sexual politics and ideological positions from c. 1990-2016
Honestly, both of these books sound flawed-treating democracy as a portentous experiment, racial justice more than barely begun, with economic class left out (except belatedly for whites), and “polarization” as an evasion of the failure of politics to serve working people.https://twitter.com/nytdavidbrooks/status/1223657022891134976 …
