This is a good point and John’s elaboration on it is good, as well. Full professors enjoy enormous privileges denied to pretty much everyone else including many in their own institutions and when they start whining about tenure, nobody under forty feels much besides schadenfreude

Maybe I'm missing something because I've never had a tenured position, but I'm sitting here thinking that Ron DeSantis/Christopher Rufo, et al., aren't swayed by claims that their actions threaten "academic freedom." I don't think the public will be either.
