This bill would let police charge people with 10 year prison terms for “attempting to assault a law enforcement officer.” Police have been known to use the threat of charges like this to intimidate/jail protesters & retaliate against those who speak up when abused by police.
In the end it often comes down to the person’s word against the police. And if this bill passes it would give the police even more power to threaten those who resist injustice with extreme punishments.
