The impact of any tax credit on the massive gap in wealth/resources caused by slavery, segregation and mass incarceration will be marginal at best - it won’t even stop the gap from growing let alone do the work needed to start closing those gaps.

White people’s wealth was created by policies that intentionally gave them homes (Homestead Acts, FHA loans), and free education (GI bill, legacy admissions) while excluding black people from these benefits and destroying the wealth black people did build (see Black Wall Street).

There is already a proven formula for creating wealth at scale in America. Proposals for reparations and closing the wealth gap should be informed by this evidence- not borrowed from more limited proposals that are misaligned to the problem and unlikely to make much impact.
