The world was watching and Argentina’s senators failed. By rejecting legal abortion they missed a historic chance to be leaders on human rights. The fight is far from over! We will continue to stand with women in Argentina. 💚

The South West was absolutely critical to 2015 Tory election victory and backed Leave. Now voters turning against Brexit and clear majority - 42% to 35% - wants a referendum on the outcome of negotiations, rising far higher in event of no deal

Ditto last year's changes to pre-charge bail based on recommendations from the HASC who took evidence from police, CPS and previous suspects of sexual offences but no survivors or women's organisations.

Well done ⁦⁩ - fantastic campaigning and sheer hard work on this. Can we now see lifesaving women’s refuges have long term security at last?

“If I wanted to take [my hijab] off then I would … but I don’t want to.” Mabruka Beik, who has worn a hijab since she was 12, responds to Boris Johnson’s comments that the full face veil makes women look like "bank robbers" and "letter boxes".

It is our duty to win! Thanks to tireless campaigning of the women's sector, the government has now dropped plans to take refuges out of the welfare system, which would have defunded many BME specialist refuges

So this was something that & others warned govt not to do. But they went ahead anyway. Same charities then spent more time & resources campaigning against change. Govt eventually backs down. Anyone spot flaw in this approach to policy making?

Good news that 'disastrous' plans have been stopped. We need 2 ask why it's only after sustained pressure by numerous charities including to prevent deep harm 2 our most vulnerable citizens that was obvious from the start

. spot on w her analysis. It is women expected to pick up the pieces. But Victorian 'welfare' will harm us all if we drive women out of the workplace & back to the home. Spare us another Tory ‘big society’ solution to the social care crisis

Also Colson Whitehead's Underground Railroad is just brilliant. About a young woman escaping slavery in the US deep South. Craig Brown's Ma'am Darling is an outrageously funny biography of Princess Margaret. 2/3

Have a few holiday read recommendations; Exit West by Mohsin Hamid. Wonderful story about two young refugees. Also Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders is a beautiful story about life, death & grief (but a bit stylised tho. Had to get over that). 1/3
