Either the new Off-Facebook activity tool isn't working, or and anti-tracking is doing its job...

My colleague appeared on the latest edition of the podcast. Great insight into why at Cliqz we build on and why privacy is at our core:

The new website is now automatically published to the dweb using actions. It's now even easier to publish a site to the dweb!

Sorry to hear about Mozilla. Without own search, a browser always has a hard time & be dependent on Google. I hope Mozilla stays alive, web rendering needs competition. If you like to continue working on a similar mission or just talk about open web, reach out.

Interesting: If Google is forced to split off Google Analytics from the rest of the company, what is it's business model?

If you want to start competing with Google, it’s pretty easy, you simply need to spend at least 27 billion dollars per year...

More and more people take for granted, but there is more than meets the eye, and only few understand the inner workings or dynamics. Not all blockers are the same, either. So, today we give a deep dive in this topic:

Also, the more browsers blocking third-party cookies, the easier it is for new user-agents to also do so: Now developers will hopefully be aware that many users will block third-party cookies and build their sites to still work under those conditions.

The tracking ecosystem has evolved considerably over the last few years. The biggest change though is how browser treat third-parties by default - , and 's defaults put pressure on the tracking industry to change.

A short(ish) summary of my work over the last 4.5 years: anti-tracking, and how we're pushing to make the web a more private place:

Why we decided to use & not Chromium. A difficult decision (since everyone uses Chromium today as de facto standard). But then again not, if you believe that there should be competition & an open web (cc/ )

We made some controversial choices in the past, one of which being the way we built the browser. Others choose to fork Chromium, but we picked another path, our path... Today we explain why Firefox and not Chromium:

Sorry everyone, this thread got a bit chaotic, but this is possibly how collaborative Twitter investigations look like 🤖 Anyway, several parts of what FB and Airbnb (and others) are doing may be illegal under the GDPR. We need DECISIONS by EU authorities, and we need them soon.

Awesome! It seems that 's is still ahead of the pack here, with its algorithmic approach, learning about trackers globally and continuously! Others are either based on incomplete blocklists or locally-learned models. 💡
