There's been a lot of talk about iPad's multitasking UI over the past week, so I thought it would be worth showing non-Windows users how Windows 8.1 tackled these problems. The physicality of moving app windows around directly is something iOS got right when it adopted the same

I think it is still a pretty valid prediction. There's no point in picking JVM-based languages (e.g. Java) or CLR-based languages (e.g. C#) to write systems or infrastructure tools. Go/Rust are the new C/C++. But for business/domain apps, Java/.NET FTW

This was an interesting (albeit brief) first-person account of the development of Unix. Surprised to see that it was self published.

A book, "UNIX: A History and a Memoir" by Brian Kernighan, rests on a airplane-seat tray table next to a cup of cheap coffee.

I was not aware that Amazon Linux 2 images (x86_64) could be easily configured and ran under qemu/VirtualBox/VMWare , but it is really simple to do so thanks to its straight forward. Im running mine under VirtualBox 6.1 (using vboxnet0 host-only-adapter)

And the great thing about this entire debacle is that if instead it was a 100 patch thread from Qualcomm to add random weird quirks to SMC calls, they would be taken happily no question....

Been feeling pretty crummy lately and nothing seems to help so I might disappear from social media for a bit. You know where to find me. (...don't you?)

I had so much fun digging into the internals of Fargate and EKS to understand the architecture. AWS Container Services did a great job with the design of Fargate.

After using it for a week, I love the way AWS Fargate design for Kubernetes. At present this seems to be the best way to push Kubernetes forward. Fantastic job AWS Fargate team !

Awesome to see that the 9.0_RC1 AMI (ami-0253252c7371f3fb1) brings up all 64 cores on powered m6g.16xlarge, out of the box, sight unseen for . The grand tradition "of course it runs NetBSD" continues! Cc

Here’s a snippet from and my talk (CON423 under the hood) on Fargate task security. With the EC2 based dataplane, Fargate tasks were already isolated by EC2 virtualization and now Firecracker is helping us further raise the bar. 1/8

This is something that could be super helpful to AMI builders everywhere. Including my team as well, where we churn out AMIs all the time. The testing bit is what really series it apart imo. Hopefully, it already has cloudfomation support too :)
