Here's my BOLD NEW VISION for twitter: https://otherorders.net . It turns twitter into an html table that you can sort in 29 different ways. Sort your feed alphabetically, by length of tweet, most emojis, most apocalyptic, most marxist, most neoliberal, most erotic, and more!

You can also use it the sort text of any kind. For example here is the most @dril like sentence in Candid by Voltaire: "Candide caressed his sheep."

Recommendation engines, like the ones powering Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, are designed to keep you online for as long as possible for the sake of maximizing ad revenue.

In doing so, they promote the most reactionary content on their platforms. But, at the root of it, these systems are nothing more than sorting mechanisms. Other Orders is an alternate set of sorts, optimized for other outcomes.

PS - I'm happy to add more sorting mechanisms to the project - just let me know, or file an issue on github if you have any ideas:https://github.com/antiboredom/other-orders …

Hi Sam. I don't know you. And, I saw this tweet RT'ed by a decent person. But, I am a little cautious about trying the software and allowing access to my Twitter. Maybe you could assuage my fears? I guess my question amounts to, "Are you a good person?" I don't mean to be rude.

Hi - totally understand why you would be concerned. The site uses your twitter login to access the tweets you see on your feed, but it doesn’t store any info about you - it just grabs your feed from twitter and then presents it back to you.

Is the sorting done on front end?

no - the tweets get tagged/ranked on the server (python) and the front end is mostly just interface. extremely messy/disgusting code to be found on github!
