I'll never understand (or respect) people who choose to stay in the stands and talk smack vs. play in the field (even if given the opportunity). What sort of passive, cowardly character does it take? How do you not get bored there? How do you even dare to boo?

Because if success is based upon talent, everyone has an excuse why others do better. But if it is based upon work ethic there is nothing to do but look in the mirror.

"I'm too comfortable at Google" -- as crazy as it sounds is actually a real problem. I have friends at Goog who fell in the same pattern: get bored, take up a lot of hobbies, then wallow in depression. Not a good way to thru life. Challenge yourself.

The biggest generator of long term results is learning to do things when you don't feel like doing them. If you let excuses or emotion drive behavior, you're cheating yourself. Put aside the excuses and start doing what you need to do.

The secret to accomplishing impressive things: Do not give yourself a way out. Either you do it, or you don't and you should keep working at it. It is tempting to give yourself excuses ("I didn't have resources", "I learned a lot", etc). But that's not how these things happen.

the whole area of senior care needs to be disrupted. this is a request for a gazillion products. i spend ~50% of my monthly income caring for my parents, and almost every service is below par or just a scam. there’s a huge opportunity to be leveraged here.

Huge companies stop being innovative not because of increased bureaucracy but because as companies grow they get worse at hiring. Recruiters play it safe and look for signals and experience on resumes. They stop hiring for slope and start hiring for y-intercept.
