There's a steady trickle of articles claiming that @SecretaryCarson's proposed #FairHousing rule revision is gutting or reversing the 1968 Fair Housing Act. This isn't true, couldn't be true, and it's time for some slow breathing.

Contrary fact: The 1968 Fair Housing Act itself has been a major tool to reduce blatant discrimination and segregation. Nobody's changing any part of the Act, nor its enforcement mechanisms (nor should they!).

MYTH 2: The 2015 AFFH Rule was going to force cities to make major policy changes. (This myth crops up on both the right and left).

Contrary fact: The 2015 AFFH Rule is on the internet, you can read it, and there's simply no enforcement language. The "but it woulda been used to force desegregation/social engineering" is wishful/paranoid thinking. What it did was *study* segregation.

MYTH 3: The new proposed Carson AFFH rule is going to allow cities to engage in unjust policies and a return to 1950.

Contrary fact: the AFFH rule was never about violations of the Fair Housing Act. It's about the sins of omission, not the sins of commission. Whether it does a good job on the former is a valid question, but it shouldn't be confused with the Fair Housing Act.
