Many liberals and libertarians oppose lefty intolerance on campus because they believe in free expression and intellectual openness.
That's not what DeSantis is doing, says . He's replacing left-wing illiberalism with right-wing illiberalism.

"Many schools have had an atmosphere of ideological pressure that discourages or punishes professors who violate left-wing taboos." But DeSantis is trying "to impose controls of his own liking."

Exactly who are the victims of 'lefty intolerance?'

Love that the replies to this are all just attacking you for even suggesting lefty intolerance is a thing!

I’m not seeing the issue with this. We don’t live in a world where public colleges are free of politics and ideologically balanced. See eg Portland State and Evergreen. I think there’s room for a right of center institution. The John McWhorters can found their own college.

"Are they interested in effectively rolling back the excesses of 'social justice' zealotry? If they are, they’re going about it in the worst possible way: To associate such a pushback with a right-wing brand is to lose centrists and liberals who also dislike those excesses...."
When you say that liberals and libertarians “oppose” leftist intolerance, what you mean is that they tweet out some criticism of it. But what they will never, ever do is wield & utilize political power to actually stop it. Thats what DeSantis is at least trying in slight measure.
