    is worsened by: - low wages, - unequal pay, - glass ceilings, - unaffordable child care. We can start the change by ending the sales tax on feminine hygiene products.

    Three states, Louisiana, Maine & Vermont, passed to end sales tax on feminine hygiene products. Advocates argue that states must also work to reduce cultural & social stigmas, make products free in publicly available places & invest in sex ed. My latest:

    My mom works in the school system I went to growing up in a rural area of Southern Maine - lots of low income families and kids. This is a huge and positive policy change for the kids she works with and all Maine kids! YAY!

    Capitalism cannot exist without poverty. That's why Wal Mart: 1. Pays low wages 2. Makes employees get SNAP food assistance 3. puts in a few million dollars of anti-hunger-philanthropy-tax-deductions to net $16 Billion in SNAP dollars at their stores.

    Let me be clear: capitalism without competition isn’t capitalism. It’s exploitation.

    As of today, my bill HB 1426 (2020) is now in effect. No child in Virginia public schools can ever be shamed with an “alternative meal” again. Every student who wants a full breakfast and a full lunch can now have them regardless of their ability to pay for it.
