@saintlennybruce @chesaboudin how will this crime be categorized? It probably won’t or it will under something nonviolent. Will Restorative Justice work in these situations, doubt it. Pls. Prove me wrong.https://twitter.com/varunagg/status/1237275589435785216 …

Anecdotal. SF is a metropolis. By SF historical standards and those of other US cities today, it is statistically a very safe, very wealthy city. People *feeling* unsafe when the poverty amidst unprecedented wealth is so visible is another matter.

Please. SF is a shithole, ask the people who live here and are working to pay taxes. We are disgusted. Get your head out of your ass.

Grew up here Maybe try housing people & see if feces in the street remains an issue Try actually providing basic mental & behavioral health care publicly, and see if people experience recovery. Evidenced-based treatment confirms this If people aren’t desperate, thefts decrease

How do you think addiction plays in here? I am downtown every single day, There are drug addicts everywhere. Why are people calling them homeless? Housing isn’t their first priority, drugs are. Why are we concerned with their housing? We have our own rent to worry about

We’re talking about housing bc not being housed means people are constantly in public without any privacy When drug use increases behind closed doors that’s invisible Far less unhoused people are using than many believe because of this, and many housed people are & no-one cares

Even street dealing covers far fewer square blocks in SF than it did only 20 years ago
