if I get an A on a test or essay but I didn’t do most of any of the practice assignments (because they were redundant or busy work), why should my overall grade suffer?

In elementary school I was always miles ahead but they'd make me do all the busy work anyway, and it was so frustrating. Eventually they skipped me.
