The economy may take 15 to 20 yrs to begin recovering, if the present trajectory of hate, anger, bigotry continues unabated.
It's difficult to understand why a government with a historic majority and a second-term wouldn't concentrate on the economy and instead jump into contentious and useless pursuits. Inexplicable.

It's all well planned! 2nd term is for restructuring. That way even if public decides to punish them, there is technically no opposition, so anyway they would still scrape through for another 5 years.

And if, by some miracle some other govt. comes, they, as opposition will torture the opposition to clean their own mess, which is not going to be easy for any govt. of whatever calibre. And would prepare the groundwork to gain power again after a gap of 5 years!

Maybe cause they have a realistic sense of their ability to manage economy and important stuff and so it leaves only polarisation to stay in the game for a 3rd term.

Usually public perception is divorced from reality. Under MMS, when the economy was seemingly in good hands, the Rafael deal was scuttled because we couldn't afford it. This govt. has given a wonderful defense infra from that same economy!
