Interesting - for all the hype around remote work this shows that only about 3% of knowledge workers in the US work remote - the extent of the change that’s coming will rival e-commerces impact on brick and motor shopping - perhaps even greater impact!

“under promise, over deliver” is far more achievable when you’re willing to forego short-term optics and optimize for the long-term outcomes.

I believe remote work can reverse rural depopulation, make communities less transitory, and spread opportunity to underserved areas. will be core to 's legacy. Thank you and for spending time with us! 🌍🙌

It’s a good think that you don’t have to be a junior Ada Lovelace or Von Neumann to program/build computers; the economic engine cannot function with only an elite few participating - democratization of computer science was inevitable & I’m glad it’s here!

Even with perfect execution across all of this the economics may not be viable. But some things are worth pursuing despite the economics!

A few addition things - 1) comet mining - for rare Earth minerals, 3) systematic commercialization of IP created as a by-product of space exploration, 4) new financial instruments that enable much wider participation than typical private market investors

The economics though are very different in exploration vs. a typical business venture and have to be considered. A few things I can think of 1) what Space X is already doing with satellite launches - however this won’t be nearly enough for what’s needed to make this a reality

Once the space race ended it wasn’t very compelling to continue the spend from even the POV of the worlds largest economy - I am by no means saying this isn’t worth pursuing for purely humanity’s long term goals or perhaps averting some short-term disaster

The vision is of course bold - any investors here better have a multi-century view on ROI though. In the age of exploration this was largely paid for by sovereigns and taxes that were collected, the Apollo program was paid for by the US government

Either which way - companies will have a huge advantage and will be able to scale in ways that geographically anchored companies will find hard to compete with

Wonder what will be the singular shift/company that breaks the camels back - is there an Amazon scale company on the horizon re: remote work? Or will this be death by a 1000 cuts type of a situation?
