Filibuster issue is tricky for Biden and the nuance here is deliberate. He can’t sound trigger-happy because that’d be transparent pandering. He also can’t sound dead set against ending it or it’d enhance McConnell’s leverage to stick a dagger in his legislative agenda on day 1.

The big test for the filibuster will come once it becomes the only obstacle to a major piece of legislation that’s otherwise set to pass. Amazingly this hasn’t happened since Obama’s first two years in 2009-2010 (!).https://twitter.com/StevenTDennis/status/1282834066249789443 …

In Trump’s first two years, only bill of note I can think of killed purely by a filibuster was $15b for the wall. It blew up in the lame duck and Dems were about to take the House. The trade-off made little sense. ACA repeal died at 49 votes. Trump’s immigration bill got 39.

People keep making the cutting observation that Joe Biden, if elected, wouldn’t control the filibuster. As though a sitting president’s position has no impact on how marginal senators vote. C’mon.
