Solved a bug that wasn't a bug today, and it might save you a few hours to know: - if you get unexpected CORS errors in Firefox, it may be due to the Privacy Badger add-on. Clues: - Chrome works - Firefox console shows a CORS error / Network error immediately you call fetch()

Looks handy, currently I have an alias to a 'beep' and add that to the end of the CLI but this is cleaner.

Face masks go mainstream in the 2020s. 1) Starts as protection against infection, pollution 2) Then privacy, to defeat face recognition 3) Then people realize: less time on makeup, hair 4) Eventually, standard piece of clothing. Both privacy and hygiene.

FB violated the GDPR's right of access since 2018, and I think they still store more data they still do not disclose to users now. If I were the , this would be 1 of several 4% fines. More important, I believe FB doesn't have a legal basis to process this data at all.

Christ, the EARN IT Act is just so brain-breakingly stupid. It would allow the AG to write "best practices" making providers legally liable for offering end-to-end encryption. OK, well, what's to stop people from separately encrypting data and *then* transmitting it?

I retweeted this post yesterday, but I urge people who care about encryption online to read it, because this legislation should scare you. I am going to follow with a (much less thorough and accurate) summary thread below.

Agreed. However, Publicis is a huge part of this, owning all kinds of data/adtech companies, and Epsilon, one of the largest consumer data brokers globally.

We must thank *experts* in many domains for this, and people with integrity. People who won't lie or make stuff up for convenience or self interest, and we must thank China. 2/2
