I know the word "gaslighting" is overused, but I don't know any other way to describe the massive amount of social pressure applied to make people doubt themselves when they sense misogyny in a popular artist's work or persona, or dislike him as a result.

It is only slightly less irritating to stop at phase 2 by not getting into it and then learn you were right. And then even after learning about it dudes will still defend the work and tell you you're wrong. Exhausting.
