You know, I don't need the character in your power fantasy to conclude that power was bad for her because she doesn't have a man, or she's lost her "softness and empathy" (barf), or she's been too mean to a boy. It's a superhero movie, not a mid-80s backlash drama.

In the real world, power can be and is complicated, but the first WONDER WOMAN showed that, given the current state of Hollywood, showing a woman being strong and exercising power and not being punished for it is actually new and revolutionary *enough.* Escapism has a place.

The treatment of sexual assault and "appropriate victim behavior" in that film is so depressing, as well.

Well the dude with power was bad and got worse with more. And he got better when Diana helped him find his empathy.

Yes, but I fundamentally don't care about that dude. I'm here for Diana and Kristen Wiig and whatever 30-second cameo Robin Wright decides to grace us with.

Barbara Minerva as the “tragic feminist” seems regressive, esp since Black Panther avoided this issue to the point that people debated whether the Black nationalist character was right
-
yep. she just wanted to be like Diana and defend herself from sexual harassment. why is that supposed to be evil?
